Many buildings from the 1930’s still remain in Odawara. Especially in the ITABASHI area, there you will find an atmosphere of the old TOKAIDO way that has stayed with these buildings and evokes a spectacular tea culture from the MEIJI era, these are the MITSUNAGA memorial building and the ROKYOSOU house. There are also buildings from the 1930’s and 40’s remaining along the current route 1 and the old KOSHUKAIDO way, such as DARUMA Restaurant, ROKIN bank, and several buildings with a western style façade. These nostalgic scenes make one feel that the past has been kept alive along SENDOKOUJI Street and SAIKACHIKOUJI Street. You can visit the Odawara Literature Museum, KAGOSEI KAMABOKO (fish cake) shop and old SUZUHIRO KAMABOKO (fish cake) shop while in SENDOKOUJI.
